Odyssey: Intergenerational TheatreQuest Performance
January 24 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Six children, two teenagers, and twelve adults have been exploring the meaning of Ulysses’ long journey, which kept him away from home for ten years. Ulysses is not a hero, but someone who fails and makes mistakes, yet carries one of our most precious human qualities: “metis” in Greek, a kind of cunning responsiveness to what is. He doesn’t freeze, he doesn’t go into depression, he doesn’t run away. Don’t you think we should use this quality more? His journey is a rite of passage and we fully embarked on it.
The children are working on the scene of the Cyclops Polyphemus, while the adults have chosen four episodes to unfold: the Lotus-Eaters, Circe, the Underworld, and the Sirens. Together, we have asked what these encounters might represent today and shaped a journey in which the audience can hopefully recognise themselves.
We invite everyone who will join the performance to travel alongside us and reflect together on humanity and its future.
