Find Your Community,
Find Yourself

Discover the Magic that Occurs Outside Your Comfort Zone

TheatreQuests are a collaborative programme of theatre, nature exploration, and art & wellbeing workshops that culminate in final performances. It can be described as a vision quest through the wilderness of creativity. This extraordinary voyage is informed by our three core values: Self-Discovery, Connection with Nature, and Creativity.

Our Adult TheatreQuests include our 10-day Summer Camp for older people ages 19-85, as well as 3-month weekly courses that usually take place in Spring and Autumn.

Theatre Quest is a journey of self-enquiry and re-empowerment that helps create the conditions for inner and outer transformation. Find hidden resources within yourself and explore new perspectives.

In the form of community theatre, the TheatreQuest is a great tool of collective enquiry for any community or ecovillage that would like to discover or deepen their sense of identity. Get in touch to enquire about us bringing this programme to your doorstep.

Benefits for Professionals and Seekers

Our somatic movement, and breathing exercises will give you tools going forward to remain embodied, present and focused in your everyday life. It becomes increasingly vital for all of us to learn these skills.

Sucked into the wormholes of internet over-usage, information over-stimulation and society-wide sedentary lifestyles with office-centred employment, many of us are disconnected, discombobulated and disembodied.

And our practices, workshops and activities around acting, storytelling, and theatre will give you creative tools that you can tap into in other unexpected realms of life.

Recent Theatre Quest Shows

 Confessions – March 2024

A thrilling loudspeaker announcement at the start: “you are locked in and cannot leave until you have confessed”. The voice doesn’t say what has to be confessed, and why, but it is clear that nobody can go until 12 members of the audience have made a full confession.

We have all done things that we are not proud of, and most people have hidden secrets. Anything can happen at a show like this as the confessions that come out are not pre-scripted.

TheatreQuesters of this show are currently fundraising to perform it in Italy after an invitation was made.

A Midsummer Day’s Dream – June 2024

A reimagined version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This Shakespeare classic will be delivered with modern environmentally-aware twists and a revised title: A Midsummer Day’s Dream.

Athens, the setting of the play, has been covered in plastic. What’s more, the faeries from the forest have been corrupted by human culture, developing smartphone addictions.

The cast will be made up of local children (aged 10+) and adults from two different TheatreQuest programmes. It’ll be performed outdoors in an enchanted forest.

Are You Happy?

A snail calls a special meeting to discuss an important matter: humanity has lost their trail. A pigeon, a spider, a dandelion and Water respond to the invitation. They adventure the human heart as guides to a group of humans. Will they find what has been lost?

This show was performed to around 150 people over the course of two nights. It was a promenade theatre show that took place across many rooms of the magnificent Cluny Hill Hotel.

What to Expect

Each course features a unique range of activities, and every year there is variation. We always have new artists, musicians, dancers, and personal development teachers offering workshops that we incorporate into our final shows.

Meet Your Mentor

Laura Pasetti

Laura Pasetti
Artistic Director

Laura Pasetti is the course instructor. She is a theatre director, playwright and facilitator of learning, with 35 years of experience working with theatre professionals and non-professionals alike.  Laura considers herself “an artist on a quest”. She has never stopped searching and training to enrich her knowledge and understanding of humanity. Since 2016 she has been combining theatre and ecology. In 2018 she completed a one-year training in nature-based practices at Ecodharma (Catalunya). In 2023 she founded Theatre of the 7 Directions and obtained a Master’s Degree in Engaged Ecology (Schumacher College). She lives in Scotland, in the Findhorn Ecovillage.

She has been teaching children and teenagers for much of her career, passionate about providing the next generation with invaluable tools for happy, healthy, creative lives. This includes a decade of providing annual Summer Camps for young people in Scotland and Italy.

Laura just brings a very clear, very straightforward, open-minded perspective to theatre... Noticing and connecting with nature, which most theatre that I have been in and experienced does not do. She really makes you have that tactile physical contact with nature and lets you be in that experience and to reflect on that experience. She brings it out really well and makes you consider how you value your connection to nature.

Izaak Hutton, 16

I live in a really big city, so obviously we don’t know each other, but here we’re in a small village and so everyone knows each other. It’s a really friendly space and it kind of affected me, because usually I’m more introverted but here I’m really really extroverted. It’s really different and fun to come back and do this. It’s also the reason I came back and why I plan on coming back next year.

Eva

This was my fifth year doing the summer camp, and I just love it. I keep coming back. There’s something about this place [Findhorn], about what we do, about what we create in a very short amount of time… It’s absolutely amazing.

Ottavia Colombo, 19

This is not just a theatre camp. This place taught me a lot about life: about controlling my emotions, about getting to know myself, and also about getting to know other people.

Aaron

The Ecotheatre Summer Camp is much like the Divine Comedy: a journey into realms that you never thought you could access, along with companions — humans and non-humans — that will each teach you something, in a quest to find your purpose. It is a way to find your heart through art, through theatre, and to actually listen to it. For ten days, you’ll be immersed in nature with people that you’ve never met before, doing things that you’ve never done before. And there, you will have to meet yourself in a way that never happened before. How exciting. 😉

Ottavia Colombo, 19

It's a threshold to a new dimension in which you are not afraid to be yourself because Nature and Art have shown you your uniqueness. You just need to be brave enough to take the first step.

Mariapaola Chiari, 20

Summer Camp is an immersive experience that takes you on a journey of your own creation. I got to dive deep into my imagination, bringing out the true me to shine in nature as one.

Izaak Hutton, 16

Theatre Quests Abroad

Contact us to enquire about having our TheatreQuest programmes delivered to your local community, ecovillage, school or organisation.

We can deliver hybrid programmes,  part online and part-in person, or fully in-person in most countries. We can also deliver online only eco activities (workshops) or conferences on specific topics.

We wish to animate the world with more inspiring animateurs, artists who will lead society into a more ecologically healthy vision of life.

Our TheatreQuests, immersive group experiences with final performances, are a way for your group to process, express and bond.
